About Us: Troop 175, originally chartered in 1965 serves boys 11 to 18 years old. Most of the scouts come from the East Dover section of Toms River, as well as surrounding areas, including the barrier island. At present, Troop 175 has a large number of Scouts organized into patrols, that work together as a unit. Troop 175 is a Scout-run troop under the guidance of fully trained adult leaders. The Chartered Organization for Troop 175 is the East Dover First Aid Squad. We meet at the East Dover First Aid Building on Garfield Ave in Toms River. We meet every Thursday night at 7:00 pm-8:30 pm year round. Parents are encouraged to become involved in the Troop Committee and Scouting activities.
Our Mission: The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. Scouting helps develop strong values that stay with youth throughout their lives. This is particularly true for boys who stay in Scouting for five or more years.
1. Strong personal values and character
2. A sense of self-worth
3. Caring and nurturing relationships with parents, other adults, and peers
4. A desire to learn
5. Productive and creative use of time
6. Social adeptness
We also need parents to attend our camping trips. Our Leaders are having difficulty attending all of the trips and we need more adults on the trips and to provide transportation. An example: we had 14 Scouts attending the Allaire trip and only two Leaders able to attend. Thanks to the other adults that volunteered to transport the boys to the campsite. All we ask is that you attend the training (it's easy and we pay for it). Think of it this way, you will get to spend some quality time with you son and his friends. Kids know their parents care when their parents are involved! And Scouts are more involved when their parents care! Please see Mrs. Betty Miller if you are interested in joining and helping the Troop.
